  1. Dear God, of course I do.
Before I understood and acknowledged my submissive nature, I shapeshifted alot. Some kind of compensation I suppose, and an innocent yearning to please, Naturally there’s much more to it than that but already my response is longer than your question.

    Short answer – yes.

  2. By being aware.

But truly, do you want to change it? Sometimes the self others see is the self we strive for.

    And sometimes it is not.

  3. Awareness, yes. Thankyou for making the important distinction between conformity and potential. One feels like suffocation; the other is liberating and inspirational. Without being aware, the difference may be difficult to discern.

  4. Anyone that tells you that they don’t care about how other people see them is a liar. It’s human nature to want people to idolize you or to see you as somehow better than they are. The key is harnassing that need for power over people and turning it into something good, instead of becoming a slave to what everyone else expects of you.

  5. Of course I am defined by how others see me. Some days .. very much so.. other days.. not so much .
I love to play with that.. looking one way.. say .. the proper Catholic teacher.. (tho I am not Catholic) and actually being that .. for a bit.

then the next time.. dressing for a party .. and looking very much like a slut.. who cares ..maybe I am , maybe not!

To me, I have the power.. to show whatever side of my self to the world that i wish. The world may define me by what they see at that moment, but I KNOW what and who I am.

  6. It’s taken me years to realize that little of what I AM is anything besides WHAT OTHERS THINK of me or have told me I am – or should be. Being active in a D/s life at least makes that a choice rather than a default act. I am enjoying your site.
